A Sad Affair 03:42
It’s a sad affair When you’ve put up with as much as you can take And it seems as if the world is closing in on you And it feels like your heart is gonna break It’s a sad affair When you can't find a reason to go on And you know that the love you had is over now And all of that feeling is gone
2.
You can't go on Building your world upon shattered dreams You can't go on living your life in the past Oh, no, you've got to realise It wasn't what it seems Foolish plans in careless hands It was never gonna last You can't go on Wasting your love on a broken heart You can't go on wanting what's already gone Oh, no, you've got to realise that you're worlds apart Distant days, a different place It's over and done Just don't go on wishing and turning your hopes Into shattered dreams The pieces are missing just look around There's nothing there Don't think that there's somebody waiting Who understands how it feels No one's gonna know No one's gonna care You can't go on Hiding away from reality You can't go on seeking what you'll never find Oh, no, you've got to realise it's all fantasy Twisted views, altered truths You're losing your mind
3.
Like A Fool 04:09
Now I can hear them laugh Is it so amusing? There are only strangers here And all so cruel And I know what they’re thinking There are no lovers Like a fool Who needs these people now? I’m tired of losing Who needs their lukewarm hearts That quickly cool? When I know what they’re saying There are no lovers Like a fool Things seem so different now I see right through their lies And when I need the truth I just look in their eyes The walls they build themselves Are of their choosing They’re so convinced their dreams Will all come true And all the while they tell me There are no lovers Like a fool
4.
Moochy Man 03:48
It's a starry night And the moon's aglow You feel safe inside But you never know Not a breath of air Like they cast a spell Is there someone there? You never can tell Could be the Moochy Man Trying to take control The Moochy Man Trying to take your soul He'll catch you if he can Hiding in the dark The Moochy Man Gonna steal your heart
5.
Down in the sewer there's a new game Selling tears just to cloud up your eyes Then they stab you in the back When you're sleeping Down in the gutter there's a new way You can't tell the truth from the lies And they steal all the secrets your keeping Better run for your life You're in danger You taught your children too well Now they're taking sweets from a stranger In this hell Up on a cloud they put an angel With a smile that could turn you to stone Yet they're down on their knees and they're praying Hiding in the shadows is the jackal He's waiting to get you alone Then he's in for the kill and the slayiing Better run for your life No use fighting He's prepared for the battle too well And he'll cut you faster than lightning In this hell Down in the ground are the memories But they may as well have never been born For they lived and they died all for nothing Out on a limb are the dreamers But the chances they hoped for are gone And hate is the new way of loving Better run for your life Can't you see it? We all know the answer too well But some just don't want to believe it In this hell

The nights are colder, closing in on me But I remember how it used to be Now I feel I’m sinking under Everything just seems to get me down There used to be a time I know It never felt like that I used to see a love light in your eyes Melting rivers of gold Too hot to hold Now your heart’s as cold as ice The nights seem longer, just go on and on And now I wonder where the love has gone Just the sound of distant thunder It's all over and done There used to be a time I know It never felt like that I used to see a love light in your eyes Melting rivers of gold Too hot to hold Now your heart’s as cold as ice
7.
So you've been out on your own Suppose I always knew you would I tried to change your mind Tried to hold you back But you had to know the truth Had to find out for yourself Had to see the way it is I wanted you to know Wanted you to learn But not find out like this There never seemed to be a moment to explain I was there at the first when they started it Even then I knew that it was wrong It's all madness, let's have no part of it Stay here where you belong Did they try to break your heart? Did your lover make you cry? Did he promise you the world Take you in his arms And whisper all those lies? And when you felt that it was good Like it’s never been before You were down upon your knees Begging him to stay He was walking out the door I know it's true and I've had to bear the pain I was there at the first when they started it Even then I knew that it was wrong It's all madness, let's have no part of it Stay here where you belong Did the children make you laugh? Did their voices sound so sweet? Did they sing their pretty songs Take you by the hand And dance you in the street? And when you felt that it was good And you'd forgotten all the lies You turned around to find That the children all were grown And there was hatred in their eyes I never want to see you hurt like that again I was there at the first when they started it Even then I knew that it was wrong. It's all madness, let's have no part of it Stay here where you belong

On Fire 04:25
Seeing is believing So try to understand And put yourself in my shoes I played into your hands A baptism of fire Fire A baptism of fire Fire Tricked me in a heartbeat I never stood a chance On fire Fire Try to cast your mind back Lazing in the sun All the days were numbered Living on the run A baptism of fire Fire A baptism of fire Fire Cos beggars can't be choosers You've got to take the heat On Fire Fire Standing at the crossroads Back against the wall Slipping through your fingers Pride before a fall A baptism of fire Fire A baptism of fire Fire Thought I’d gone to heaven But I found myself in hell On Fire Fire
9.
I used to think that they were trying to be cruel And I'd lose my head Trying to make me look like some kind of fool Every time they said She's not for you You're from the wrong side of the track Better walk right back She moves too fast She doesn't show it But she's out of your class And don't think she doesn't know it She's not for you Maybe she'll want you for a while It makes her smile To think she could break up your heart If you let her But you'd be better off Trying to forget her And so I'd turn and put my back to the wall And say "You just don't know" "You don't care about my feelings at all" And then they'd tell me so She's not for you She's only playing her little game They're all the same She likes to feel your attention upon her She'll never need you the way that you want her Cos she's not for you Just look at everything she's got Everything you're not Before she starts to set your world on fire Just turn your head away and walk right on by her

Watching in the shadows Winter's drawing fast Don't think I can see it through Don't think I can last Remembering the summer Walking in the sun Never felt the cold When we were young Didn't need a reason Didn't need a rhyme Never short of laughter Never short of time Didn't plan tomorrow Till the day was done Never short of life When we were young Didn't stop to wonder Were we right or were we wrong We had all we needed To build our dreams upon Never thought we'd look back And summer would be gone Didn't have a care When we were young Watching in the shadows Winter's almost here Nothing left to hope for Everything to fear Want to turn around now Scared of going on Never felt afraid When we were young

about

No matter what we might like to think, we are never really in control of our lives. We are all victims of chance and coincidence. ‘A Sad Affair’ is an album of original songs that describe difficult circumstances that we’ve all personally encountered. You may find yourself in a similar position at some point on your journey. There are no simple answers. These situations are unique to each individual and usually unavoidable, but we hope the experience leaves you stronger and more determined.
